Sometimes even I am surprised by the love, affection, and devotion I feel towards friends I've made through the community of blogging. I was thinking about that this morning as I dug up an old post that inspires today's thoughts.
Back in October 2007, Stephanie at Adventures in Babywearing shared some things she was diggin' that month and invited us to share ours. That was almost three years ago, y'all! And I had been reading Stephanie for quite some time before that. It still just amazes me how connected we can become to one another through this little snapshots of life.
Anyway. It made me grin to think back on what I was into in October 2007. I decided to change up the questions a little bit and re-visit
What Am I Into This Month - August 2010
On My Nightstand: Radical: Taking Back Your Faith from the American Dream by David Platt; Real Food: What to Eat and Why
by Nina Planck; Crazy Love: Overwhelmed by a Relentless God
by Francis Chan
Want To Read: Surprised by Hope: Rethinking Heaven, the Resurrection, and the Mission of the Church by N.T. Wright, Loving Our Kids On Purpose
by Danny Silk, and Radical Homemakers: Reclaiming Domesticity from a Consumer Culture
by Shannon Hayes.
T.V. Show Worth Watching: It's pretty much just Project Runway for me these days. Yes, I completely and totally see the dissonance between Radical and Runway . . . I have nothing to say for myself except that I have an undying affection for Tim Gunn. Kyle knows this and yet is strangely un-threatened. Go figure.
Moive I've Seen (in our out of the theater): My lovely and sweet sister Emily talked me into taking the girls to see Despicable Me with her in the theater last month. I had never had the courage to take them before, but you know what? They did great. And the movie was cute. And I think the girls liked the popcorn the best of all.
In My Kitchen: I'm relying heavily on Kitchen Stewardship's Healthy Snacks to Go for everything from homemade applesauce (which smells ridiculously amazing as it cooks) to granola and snack bars for Dacey's lunch box and after school snacks. Such an incredible resource!
In My Ears: I have edited my Fernando Ortega "This Is My Father's World" channel on Pandora to near perfection.
Three Newest Blog Reads:
- Sit a Spell - A family of six packs up and moves to Haiti. I'm blown away by their mission and their honesty. Check out When Heaven Speaks Through a Little GIrl and you'll see what I mean.
- swonderland - Okay, she's gorgeous. And amazing. I'm always inspired and admittedly more than a little jealous. Read her homebirth story part 1 and part 2 and I bet you'll be hooked, too.
- Rachel Held Evans - I have found myself an unapologetic fan girl. Can you be kindred spirits with someone you've never seen face-to-face? I think so. Stay tuned for my review of Evolving in Monkey Town: How a Girl Who Knew All the Answers Learned to Ask the Questions
AND an interview with Rachel!
What I'm Looking Forward to Next Month: A pink-saturated birthday party for our princess-obsessed baby turning three. The kick-off of college football! The Radical read-along at Marla's place. A Walk to Emmaus for Kyle and me.
