Y'all. Today, I am thrilled to introduce you to an incredible resource for health and wellness.
I am very selective about the things I recommend for you because I care deeply about each of you and would never endorse something I don't strongly believe in. I have to tell you I haven't been this excited about a natural living resource in a long time!
As you know, in my family we try to avoid approaches to health that require things like the flu vaccine and instead try to look to ways to both promote wellness and treat illness in natural ways.
Michele Augur of Frugal Granola has written an e-book that meets the needs of any person or family who wants to explore and utilize natural approaches to healing. In Herbal Nurturing: A Family Healing & Learning Guide, you will find more than thirty recipes for treating family ailments of all kinds.
Michele has spent the last ten years collecting information and recipes and wisdom from a variety or resources and has done the hard work of writing out clear instructions, including any possible contraindications (allergy alerts, ingredients that may interfere with breastfeeding, etc.), and organizing all of the information so well that you can have every confidence in preparing these approaches to healing for your family and yourself.
And this absolutely tickled my teacher's heart - included with every single recipe, Michele has ideas for "Learning at Home." We know that children are constantly learning, and what better instruction to provide from the time they are little than what they need to know about health and wellness?
In addition to learning activities and suggestions, she also includes links to a wealth of books and resources that supplement your family's learning. For example, in the learning activities that go along with the recipe for "Women's Monthly Tea," Michele recommends teaching young women how to begin charting their cycles and suggests using Toni Weschler's Taking Charge of Your Fertility as a guide in this. You all know how I feel about that book and the importance of women of all ages understanding the amazing ways our bodies work, so I was delighted to see that. And that's just one example of the way learning is promoted throughout this book!
Michele is also a follower of Christ and makes clear from the introduction that she and her family seek to honor our Creator in utilizing the healing properties of his Creation to treat the bumps and bruises and coughs and colds of life; however, the emphasis on her Christian faith is never so intrusive that those who are not part of the Christian faith would be put off by her approach.
This fantastic resources is only $8.95 which I think is a total bargain when you consider how much money your family could save by staying out of the pharmacy in the years to come!
AND Michele has generously offered two free copies to the readers of SortaCrunchy!
