It's Saturday morning and I'm snuggled into my writing cave. The sunlight is pouring in and leaves are falling like mad to the ground. Apparently, we had some earthquakes in Oklahoma this morning! Nothing that could rattle me from much-needed sleep, though.
As I'm working, I'm looking through the words that some of you have already been gracious enough to send to us. You have no idea what it means to us that you would trust us with your stories!
There are a few bare spots, some thin-ish places that would be filled out so powerfully with your words. If you have a minute this autumn weekend, would you be interested in sharing a little of your life with us?
Keep in mind, we don't necessarily need long, beautifully-written paragraphs. Just the thoughts you might normally leave in a blog comment will work quite wonderfully.
Here are some starter questions:
On marriage: In what ways did becoming parents stress or strain your marriage? In what ways has parenting been a vehicle for growth or change? How has parenting allowed you to meet each other's needs in marriage, or minister to the weakness of your spouse? How have you learned to serve each other as you have parented your children together?
On connection: In what ways were you encouraged as a new parent to build connection with your new baby? In what ways did outside influences make you feel as though you needed to disconnect from your baby (for example, don't hold the baby too much, you'll spoil her - that kind of thing)? What practical ways did you intentionally build connection with your new baby? If you practiced babywearing, how did that help you to be connected to your little ones?
We would really love to hear from those of you who have found redemption and healing through your own childhood hurts through parenting your own children.
Finally, how has parenting affected your feelings of connection to God?
If you have a minute to speak to ANY of these (certainly don't feel as if you need to answer ALL of them!), feel free to leave a comment or email me at megan at sortacrunchy dot net.
THANK YOU, FRIENDS. And thank you for your outpouring of prayer and support as we write. Less than a month now until our manuscript will leave our hands and move into the editing phase. YAY! And YIKES!
