Last Saturday night, my friends Hollywood Housewife, Greer Inez, Jaime, and bestie-sister Emily threw a little book release party for SLP at Studio Midtown in OKC. My face ached from smiling by the end of the night. Such an incredible celebration!
It was so much fun to see my little circles of friends bumping into one another and colliding - my family and my high school friends and my college friends and my current hometown friends and my reader friends. All that love, all that community, all that precious, life-giving support, all in one gorgeous, light-filled room. Divine.
I looked high and low at the mall and every Ross and TJMaxx in the metro area, and I could not find a thing that felt right for the party. I ended up wearing this vintage pink party dress that has been hanging in my closet for months with a thrifted denim jacket on top and those hateful Target shoes (that I have finally broken in and don't hate quite so much anymore). Both my dress and jacket were $.99 at The Goodwill. :)
Pictured with me above are Toni (left) and Libby (right), two of my dearest friends in town. In a very real way, the book would not have been written without these two. We did a little preschool co-op three mornings a week last fall which meant that one morning a week, I had their kiddos and two mornings a week, AJ hung out at their houses. That quiet time to work and write was PRICELESS to me. When you are a mom working at home, it takes a village to write a book. That is just the truth of it.
Hopefully this week I'll have more time to take regular outfit photos, but for now, it's Wednesday, and this is what I wore (to my book party!).
This month's featured sponsor is Every Breath I Take and Jennifer has touched on the incredible need for community and support in sharing her thoughts on how to deal with your emotions in a way that allows you to be in the presence of the big feelings of others. Community and relationships can be messy, and this is a great starting place for knowing how to be there for others in difficult times!
