Yes, that is the same necklace I was wearing in last week's picture. I can't help myself, I love it so. (It's from Old Navy.) And the darling stripey cardigan? Is courtesy of Me2Roo and I've worn it pretty much every day for a week straight. Stay tuned to Simple Design for a full review of it and a chance to win one for yourself in a few weeks!
So, twenty-one weeks. Twenty-one weeks and one day, now, if you want to get be all technical about it.
The girls got to go with me to my ultrasound check-up on Thursday. They were mildly enthusiastic about seeing the little brothers on the big screen, but it is awfully difficult to understand what exactly we were seeing. They lost interest pretty quickly, but they were champs through the whole appointment.
The tech confirmed what I had suspected: both boys are still breech and their heads are together at the very top of the baby bump:
Both boys are measuring right on time with one weighing in at 14 oz and the other reaching one whole pound! Fluid levels, placenta, and all that junk looks great, too.
Physically, I'm still doing as well as can be expected. The pelvic pain and pressure has let up quite a bit which is a huge relief! Still having problems with the nerve pain in the back, but as long as I can sit in a way that I can recline a little bit, it's not too bad.
It was earlier in the week that I had a bit of a panic attack over timing. I texted this to Kyle:
When I really start to freak out, I remind myself that teeny babies don't need a whole nursery set up and decked out for them. Their actual needs are very basic. All the other stuff will happen if it happens.
But still. FOUR MONTHS to go.
Oh! I told you I was going to share more about my cloth diaper plans, but after last week's update, I changed my mind on everything. A very kind commenter (thank you, Bethany!) noted that she found a newborn cloth diaper rental service that accommodates multiples. I had looked into lots of rental services, but it was just going to be pretty cost-crazy to do a rental x2 ... or so I thought.
It turns out that EarthyCrunchyMama.com has a program just for multiples that would allow us to receive 48 preemie diapers and then 48 newborn diapers when they are ready for that size. That is way, way more than I had figured I would be able to afford (and then store) in the system I had planned on using. Anyway. I'm sure I'll be talking through lots more cloth diapering stuff in the future, but for now, it was a relief to find a program that I think will work perfectly for us.
I'm so intrigued with the idea of babywearing twins, particularly wrapping them. I've never used a wrap but gosh, I just feel like it might be the least-complicated way to go - IF I can get the hang of wrapping. I can put an infant on my back in an Ergo or mei tai carrier with no problem. That makes me feel like I could do a wrap with both.
Look at these pictures at Wrap Your Baby of tandem wearing. What do you think? Are there any wrapping experts in the house who could point me in the direction of a good starter wrap (and what length should I get?!)?
These are the things that are on my mind. And oh yes, car seats, double strollers, a mini-van (!), Nap Nannies, maternity pajamas, and and and
and FOUR MONTHS to go.
