Earlier this week after I had dropped the girls off at school. I was sitting in our living room looking at the Christmas tree. This time next year, we'll need all shatter-proof ornaments, I thought.
I always do this thing when a big change is coming.
This is the last time ...
This time next year ...
Last one of these for a while ...
I noticed myself doing it at Thanksgiving. Last Thanksgiving as a family of four. And it reminds me of being pregnant with Dacey. She was due in January, and with the boys coming in February, I've been clicking off a lot of the same milestones.
When I was pregnant with her, it was last Christmas with just me and Kyle.
This year, last Christmas with just Kyle and the girls.
And also, last Christmas being pregnant.
Tucked away deep inside, there is still that terrified feeling that something will happen and we won't bring home two boys, or even one. But I don't know what to do except charge ahead with the belief that all is well and plan for what we know to be true in this moment.

Speaking of charging ahead, we are FINALLY making some real space in the house for twins. In fact, this update will be short and sweet because today and tomorrow have been blocked off as Serious Work Days.
We were given two cribs (TWO!) and Kyle is working on painting them this weekend. We've got serious stuff to get rid of and all manner of room-shifting is happening. It feels good to be doing something concrete to get ready for our babies, though!

My wonderful friend Vanessa dropped off a bag of maternity clothes this week, and tucked inside were these little treasures:
bitti tutto fitteds. Robot print! So fun.
So yes, it's beginning to look a lot like two boys around here.
Next week, I have an OB check-up and another ultra-sound, so perhaps next week's update will be a bit more exciting. Thank you, as always, for cheering us on in our adventure with twins.
