Eleven years ago, for a short but fascinating season, I was a Starbucks barista.

If you were a Starbucks fan and patron over a decade ago, you know that the menu was decidedly less complicated back then. Even still, it could get quite busy, and as one of the few non-college-student baristas at that store, I was often put on the opening shift. 

People get serious about a lot of things in the morning, but few things are more serious, more intense, more urgent than that morning caffeine fix. Throw in for good measure a large number of customers who were running late and it was easy to get overwhelmed in the midst of the morning weeds.

A Day in the Life: the #onedayHH project

Let's just be clear from the start. I didn't follow the instructions on this project. I read about it at the Hollywood Housewife, but in my enthusiasm, I ended up documenting my day a day early. So while everyone else is snapping pictures and sharing them on Instagram and Twitter today, I've already done all my snapping. Even though I didn't do it right, I am still so glad I did it! Every morning, I roll out of bed at 6:30 and make my first pit stop of the day:

darling and decadent plush pumpkins - win a trio!

I have to start with a confession: I'm not great with decorating. I was born without the decorating gene. My mother had that gene to the max and pulled out seasonal decorations every year. Starting in fall and continuing through the end of the holidays, there were signs of the season all over the place.

I just - I don't know. I just don't get that into it. One of the main reasons is, I think, nothing in the craft and hobby or department stores ever moves me. If I'm going to bring something into my home, I want to love it. Most seasonal decor just looks so ... generic to me.

So this year when my friends Kristin and Chris Ann - the lovely ladies behind the LoveFeast Table shop and blog - gave me one of their sweet wee plush pumpkins, I was so surprised to find that it captured my heart immediately!

Here's why: these darling pumpkins are all handstitched and handcrafted and topped with real (!) stems. You all know how I feel about handmade! And the materials used are so exquisite to the touch. AND they are made in the USA, if that kind of thing is important to ya.

These pumpkins are the kind of thing that people will pick up and admire and ooooh and ahhh over. They are like nothing your neighbors have on their mantels. And they are the kind of precious pieces that you can pass down to your kids to display in their grown-up homes someday. They are that well-made.
